I'll go with Brittanica rather than Wiki

I'm starting to find that writing blog is a pleasant thing to do, though I wasn't much into it before.

The One And Only One encyclopaedia that should exist is the PROPRIETARY one, like Encyclopaedia Brittanica. It is obviously better than open ones such as Wiki.

When people goes to a encyclopaedia web page, the basic need for them is to figure out what a new or complicated word means ASAP. Most people don't have that much time at looking over every word provided on the web page. Time is limited in modern world! But there's always too many words to look at on Wiki, partly because of the way words being created by EVERYONE. People adds and adds and adds, then the page turns out to be too full. People cannot get what they want if they do not read what they don't want firstly. The way that everyone participates in makes these kind of open source complicated.

When people realize that the explanation they are looking at can be edited by anyone, including the person who wants to make damages or making jokes, who will believe in the definition completely? Though the people in charge of those open source software are keeping an eye on what's going on on their website, they won't be able to keep up with every changes at the very moment. The editing time between an intentional destroyer and a supervisor could produce huge impact to the people who wants knowing the truth.

  1. For the first point, I think different information is using for different persons, some may find this information is useless, and some may think this information is useful. And Wikipedia is created by million of users, users sharing their knowledge on the same topic, so I think Wikipedia is a collective knowledge and it is better than Encyclopaedia.

And for the second point, I agree with you, according to the study of IBM, most of the vandal edits are repaired withing five minutes. And according to a 2007 peer-reviewed study, "42% of damage is repaired almost immediately, i.e., before it can confuse, offend, or mislead anyone. Nonetheless, there are still hundreds of millions of damaged views."
So there is still some tiny bit of time to confuse other people.

    Feel free to reply me.
